Safety notes
Outdoor activities carry inherent risk. Weather, terrain, water, fire, wildlife and equipment failure can cause injury or death. This site compares published specs. It is not safety, medical or expert advice.
- Follow manufacturer instructions for setup, use, care, load limits and age suitability. Read the labels.
- Never use stoves, grills, heaters or lanterns that burn fuel inside a tent, vehicle or enclosed space. Carbon monoxide can kill.
- Temperature ratings aren’t guarantees. Some brands list survival ratings, not comfort ratings. Bring layers and a pad with enough R-value for the conditions.
- Check the forecast and local rules on fire restrictions, food storage (bears!) and campground regulations.
- Kids need adult supervision around fire, water and gear with small parts or cords.
- Know your limits. Tell someone your plans, carry a light and first-aid kit, and turn back when conditions change.
